How Does it Work?
Germs and bacteria need humidity in order to proliferate. SecureTouch antimicrobial film is completely waterproof and forms a barrier against humidity, in turn preventing germs and bacteria from proliferating. In essence, bacteria are unable to multiply on a surface which is protected by SecureTouch.
The antimicrobial film has silver ions incorporated into the top layer of the film. When these ions come into contact with bacteria, they block bacteria’s metabolism. In short, the bacteria is unable to reproduce and proliferate – and dies off when cleaned. See below for more information on how the antimicrobial film prevents bacterial population growth.
What are the Benefits?

The biggest benefit of SecureTouch antimicrobial film is that it halts bacterial population growth. You’ll see from the chart below that, without SecureTouch applied, bacteria population grows exponentially on an infected surface. Conforming to ISO 22196, the film prevents the development of 99.99% of germs.
️ 24/7 Protection
Once fitted, the antimicrobial film will protect the surface area it is attached to for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – 365 days a year. Of course, the surface SecureTouch is applied to will still need to be cleaned regularly to completely kill off any germs, but in the current environment, this is no doubt part of standard cleaning and sanitisation protocol.
️ Prevents the Formation of Biofilm
A biofilm is a microbial ‘community’ made up of bacteria and sometimes fungus. Antimicrobial film prevents this silent but potentially deadly ‘community’ from forming and prospering.
️ Up to 5-Year Lifespan
Once applied, SecureTouch antimicrobial film will be effective for up to 5 years. Due to its low cost and ease of application, we would recommend that a new SecureTouch film is applied prior to the five-year anniversary of its initial application.
