Plastic Free July - What's it all about?

Plastic Free July is the global initiative run by a non-profit organisation called the Plastic Free Foundation that encourages everyone to help reduce their consumption of single-use plastics throughout the whole month of July.

Plastics are found everywhere – beverage cups, food packaging, anti-bacterial & baby wipes, disposable plates & cutlery…the list is endless.

How do you go plastic-free?

THE TRUTH IS…YOU CAN’T ENTIRELY

At least not until a global change in plastic alternatives is found and implemented in policies across the world.
Cutting out plastic entirely is an impossible task so the organisers are asking everyone to simply ‘do their bit’ and to cut down on the amount of single-use plastic they use.

BUT WE CAN ALL DO OUR PART TO GET THE BALL ROLLING
The irony of ‘disposable’ or ‘recyclable’ cups is that the majority cannot be recycled due to their plastic lining.
The paper part breaks down fairly quickly but the plastic lining takes close to 100 years to break down completely!
Going plastic-free is a hot topic everywhere and the more people shout about it, the more the message will get through! So do your bitt, no matter how small and shout from the rooftops about it!
  • Install cup/bottle refill machines only
  • Give staff a branded water bottle to boost brand identity
  • Say no to disposable cups and implement bring your own mugs
  • Install machines that sell re-usable items like bottles, bags and straws
Take up the challenge and shout about what you can offer your customers with the help of Westomatic.
