Westomatic: Made in Britain. Proud to be British 🇬🇧

Westomatic-Made-in-Britain-New-Feature

We are proud to announce that our application to join the Made in Britain community has recently been approved. Westomatic is now officially a Made in Britain member.

Gaining approval is no mean feat, either, with all applicants having to meet a strict set of criteria. The criteria for the application and approval required that:

  • We are a British-registered business
  • Our machines are designed and manufactured in Great Britain
  • At least 80% of our value chain is within Great Britain (not including raw materials)
  • At least 80% of our shares are held by British nationals (in our case, 100%!)

We were thrilled to finally receive approval and accreditation from the Made in Britain team.

Made in Britain 🇬🇧

The Made in Britain movement was formed by a group of professionals who are dedicated to recognising, helping and promoting British businesses – not just in manufacturing, but across all industries. The Made in Britain stamp logo is a hallmark we can now officially use on all of the machines we manufacture.

In the wake of Brexit and, now, the continued threat that the global Coronavirus pandemic poses to the British economy, it’s more important than ever for us all to pull together and collectively champion British industries.

Given the current turbulent economic climate, and ongoing operational challenges presented by the pandemic, support from entities like Made in Britain is welcomed by businesses of all shapes and sizes – including ours.

At Westomatic, 96% of the components we use in our machines are sourced in Britain. Our supply chain is full to the brim with British businesses. From sheet metal in Shropshire, to wiring looms in Williamtown, we are dedicated to buying directly from British suppliers.

Proud to be British

We’re as British as biscuit-dunking. We’re as British as a builder’s brew. We’re as British as tea and scones. So are our machines. And we’re very proud of it!

Since our foundation in 1966, Westomatic has lived and breathed British values and manufacturing best practice. Joining the Made in Britain movement is recognition of our commitment to Britain, its people, the manufacturing industry and support for our peers.

This approval couldn’t come at a better time, either. A time when, in true British style, we’re all pulling together in the face of adversity, and a time when British manufacturers have stepped up to the plate, collaborated and innovated to make things like PPE and ventilators to support the NHS.

What we have witnessed in these last few months is what makes Britain great. It has been humbling to see the wave of patriotic pride pumping through the veins of our country, and we hope to see this renewed love for Britain and British industry continue long into the future.

Why Buy British?

‘Buying British’ isn’t about blind patriotism. It goes above and beyond supporting British manufacturing. The benefits of buying British-manufactured machines are aplenty, too:

  • Superior Quality: Britain’s manufacturing industry has been famed for the quality of its output since the Industrial Revolution. Sure, there will almost always be a cheaper alternative. But, as the old saying goes: ‘Buy cheap, buy twice’. What might be a slightly bigger investment in the short-term will prove to be money well spent in the long term.
  • Efficient: Using a manufacturer like Westomatic, you can order a new or remanufactured machine and have it delivered to your door, anywhere in the UK, within a week or less. No waiting for international deliveries and no HMRC hold-ups at the border.
  • Eco-Friendly: 96% of the parts and components we use in our machines are made in Britain. They don’t travel far to our Devon-based manufacturing plant. And if you’re a buyer based in Britain, choosing a British manufacturer is a greener, eco-friendly option, as machines and parts don’t need to travel overseas by air.
  • Customer Service: Our Customer Service and Account Management teams are based in Britain at our Devon HQ.

Don’t settle for cheap alternatives. They’ll give you more headaches than hot drinks. Invest in quality, British-made machines.
